Institute for the Analysis of Facial Behavior (Gnosis Facialis)
Micromomentary Expressions Test
ERT The Emotion Recognition Test (Merten, 2001)
In the institute teachers and researchers in the realm of facial behavior offer courses, teaching and software to learn the detailled recognition and interpretation of facial behavior.
Teaching and research is based on the famous system developped by Paul Ekman and Wallace Friesen the The Facial Action Coding System (FACS). The system ascribes every movement observable in the face to the respective muscular action by using a sophisticated catalogue of criteria. The interpretation of the facial movements as facial expressions of emotions is of major interest to many people and is based on a dictionary of Paul Ekman, which is refined by a group of researchers organized in the International Society for Facial Expression.
